| 238985 | 2004-05-24 10:12:00 | I've got an old PIII machine and would like to add another 256 MB SDRAM. Phoned a few shops in Auckland and they all told me that they don't guarantee that it will work on my machine and no refund will be entertained. However, they are willing to test it on my machine if I were to bring it in to their shop. They also told me that these RAMs may not work in some machines. How true is this? It's quite troublesome to bring the machine to their shop just to add another stick of ram. What's getting on here? Why are the SDRAMs not (backward) compatible? I also notice that single-sided ones are much cheaper than double-sided ones. Are they not the same? Cheers |

Otherwise new cheaper ways of ram configuration aren't garenteed to work in all motherboards,i personally ask people to bring the machine in if they can't identify the make and model of motherboard,or model of the computer if its a brand name system. |
