238827 2004-05-23 22:38:00 hey all...

got all the music on the box... got me two sound cards...
one for system sounds... the other for the music which is running bout 10 meters round the room to the stero... i am so happy with this set up

except... now that my baby is always doing Soundz... my media player is open...

my question is... can you minimise certain aplications to the tray... as oposed to just down to the task bar...

I know it can be done to Outlook. with a simple registary hack...

i also hav this little program call... "min-to-tray"... that does the same thing... but it puts 3 but-ugly icons next to the min/max/close of every window... so i'd rather not use that prog if can be helped...

238828 2004-05-23 22:46:00 You'll probably find that your chosen player for the audio has the ability in the programs configurations to minimise to tray. I know that my chosen audio player does foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org). WinAMP should be able to do it as well, or any player worth using IMO ;-) -=JM=- (16)
238829 2004-05-24 05:04:00 Found "Active Captions" and it was exactly what i was looking for...

I am using Windows Media Player 9.0
I know...I know... but i does everything that i ask of it...

except of course min-to-tray...

238830 2004-05-24 05:28:00 why 2 soundcards?

a soundblaster is capable of outputing 2 seperate streams of audio,a dj i know feeds one tune to his headphones and the other stream into the speakers....

as for the minimise to tray,Google(god bless) threw up this ms article

support.microsoft.com

which makes reference to this

www.teamcti.com

which maybe exactly what you are looking for.....or not....

238831 2004-05-24 06:06:00 I think the reason for the two sounds cards would be so that he/she can have still hear the system sounds but with those at a different volume level than the rest of the music. I know it's not nice when I've got music blaring and someone sends me an instant message. -=JM=- (16)
238832 2004-05-25 01:04:00 On-To-It...
someone is a better googler than me...

that tray it is exactly what i am/was after...

2 Sound cards...
you mentioned a sound card that plays two differant streams...
are these individully configurable...?
do they show up as two differant devices...?

anywho...

im building the flatty a puter over time... the hard-drive to store the files was the first thing....
then a sound card...

both things which go in my baby till his is ready for them...
