Yup.

IIRC, The XBox uses DVD-RW and the PS2 uses DVD+RW.
Apparently DVD-RW is slightly more compatible.

Yes.

No.

If you have a - format or a + format will make no difference to how you use it. If you go dual format your CD will be able to be played, used etc in more ( other ) CD Drives or players. So you make a CD using your new CD Writer in ( - ) format and take the CD to your mates' house. Your friend has a ( + ) player. Ergo no work. If all DVDs you burn are going to be used only on the Writer you make them on then it will make no difference.

I am buying a DVD writer next week and am planning on getting a dual format writer. After all 4.7 Gigs should be enough for anybody to paraphrase a certain Microsoft person. :-)
