You have to remember that PF1 users don't usually post when something is working well. The same assumption could be made of Windows systems as according to PF1 users it seems to give an inordinate amount of trouble and I would never suggest it should be balcklisted because of that. I have been using an Epsom printer for years and never had any problem at all. |

| 239012 | 2004-05-26 00:35:00 | As usual I didn't make myself very clear. The reason for my personal black list has nothing to do with the quality of the printer. As a printer, I love HP's. But my "blacklisting" is to do with their pricing and advertising. When have you seen an inkjet advertised as "Comes with half full ink tanks"? The last inkjet I bought,an Epsom, cost me less than $50 more than the cost of replacement cartridges for my HP. The Epsom ink lasted about a month. I just refuse to play their stupid unethical game. Luckily I have no real need for a colour printer, so I bought a Panasonic Laser for under $500. A few months later it is still running on it's demo toner. And it was advertised as having only demo toner. When I'm buying I demand the truth, the whole truth and not a load of bullshit. Jack |

Been cleaned twice and a couple of roller wheels replaced recently. Still going like new. 132,696 pages printed. Naturally it will collapse tomorrow, according to Murphys Law, but its a wonderful machine. |

| 239015 | 2004-05-26 07:12:00 | Fair enough Jack, and I agree with your views on advertising that leaves out important information . My comments on Epson printers were not about reliability, they were influenced mainly by the microchip in the printhead that apparently makes refilling difficult and causes the user to discard tanks with plenty of ink . There have been many posts about that issue on PF1 I know that tech-savvy users can find a work-around for this, but the Mum n' Dad n' kids user with limited knowledge gets soaked for more ink than they needed to buy . That's why I like Canon, you get a fair deal on your ink and a reliable printer without the need for any knowledge at all . Cheers Billy 8-{) " Of course if I have named the wrong brand of printer I apologise unreservedly to Epson for the error . |
