238937 2004-05-24 10:29:00 Yeah she said she didn't even know those details either :| Why are you even running an auction woman!

I know the box comes with Duke Nukem and PowerDvd so armed with that information you can do a google search which brings up likely manufacturers like MSI, and HSI and possible a few more. The MSI card is green, so that rules out that. The HSI card (www.hisdigital.com) is red so that could be a likely manufacturer :(

Are HIS any good?

238938 2004-05-24 10:57:00 HIS make some of the most highly regarded cards available, and would be my manufacter of choice.Slim to no chance that the card in question is a HIS.

From what i was just reading ATI ceased distrubtion of their own cards to all territories outside of The USA and Canada,so its highly likely that the card you bought (if imported as stated) is an ATI manufactured OEM card

238940 2004-05-24 11:08:00 Thanks Metla you have brightened my spirits somewhat :)

Who are like the bad manufacturers for Ati video cards then? Or not so much as bad, but cheaper and use less high quality components?

I'll plug the card into my machine when I get it, see what I'm dealing with.

If its a cheaper manufacturer do you reckon I should send the card back and ask for a refund from safetrader?

Go to that and click on the Product Identification quicklink in the lefthand side of the page.

Apparently there is lots of useful ways of determining if the system is Powered by Ati or Built by Ati. :D

238942 2004-05-26 05:57:00 AHhh I got it in the mail today. Its powered by Ati, not built by. It looks like its made by Yuan SmartVGA (http://www.yuan.com.tw). :|

Are they any good?? Or some cheapo brand??

Should I return under safetrader?

238943 2004-05-26 07:47:00 Arggh just had the whole system defaulting to AGP mode disabled and disabled fastwrites because of the SmartGart tab. I tried changing it to 4x AGP but it resets after rebooting!

Anyway I fixed that with an update of the VIA 4 in 1 Hyperion drivers which included some AGP thing. 4x AGP and fastwrites are now going :)

Ok time for the benchmarks!
