238963 2004-05-24 07:57:00 Ram fitted is 184 pin DDR DIMM PC2100 DDR SDRAM 64 bit 2.5 v CAS 2.0 unbuffered. Ordered a 512 mb module per these details and have received a A-DATA DDR 400 (3) 512M* 16. Queried with supplier who stated did'nt have in stock what you asked for but what was supplied will run at PC2100 speed. Have checked A-DATA site and the only variations I can find is the DDR 400 needs 2.7v +- 0.1v and CAS 3. Motherboard is a ChainTech CT-7SIDO with 2 X 184 pin DDR DIMM up to 1 GB, supports PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules, chipset SiS 735, system clock 266 MHz.
Have fossicked around the net but can't confirm that running a DDR 400 at DDR 266 (PC2100) speed is OK
Any opinions or has anybody done this?.

238964 2004-05-24 08:37:00 Shoudn't be any problem.
However I talked to a techy who worked at the PC company shortly after it closed and he told me that the A- Data ddr ram they were buying in oem box lots had a 70% failure rate but knowing them they probably bought reject ram at bargin bin prices.
Wouldn't hurt to run a memory test on it though.

238965 2004-05-24 08:54:00 Shouldn't have any problems running it - they usually clock back fine.

However I might add that as you have been told by your supplier that it'll do the job, if it doesn't you are within your rights to return it for exchange (for something that will work) or refund, under the Consumer Guarantees Act or Sale of Goods Act (I forget which one - perhaps the latter).
