| 238957 | 2004-05-24 06:59:00 | My mate is having issues ... I have downloaded the PDF manual but it just says pls refer to the software's help menu. Does anyone have a similar camera to the above? So here, he has the FinepixViewer software installed. He links his camera to his PC via the factory included USB cable thing. He can transfer Jpeg files automated. But he is having issues transfering RAW files ... He says the camera has become G: drive in the Finepixviewer software. I have tried to ask him to copy and past onto desktop, he says does not work .. (??). I have also asked him to auto sync/transfer like how he does with jpeg, but raw does not work .. He is like half the country away so can anyone give me step by step instructions to help him? Basically convert it to TIFF and have this on his PC. Thanks in advance. |

You can open images in raw format with a program such as irfan view (freeware) and save in whatever format you like. Avoid using the included fuji software as it is bloated, a resource sucker and a waste of time. Just use the camera as you would a removable drive. |

Person is not that computer orientated and lives 1/2 NZ away ... All I want is to convert to TIFF then he can edit it .... So I copy/paste onto the desktop, takingit from G drive. Then ... (??). I think he has tried to double click on it and it says file extention not supported by any software. There is however a converter software .. do I use this? Thanks. |

| 238962 | 2004-05-24 12:39:00 | okay First he can't open them because he has no program capable of opening photos in raw format installed on his computer 1. He downloads irfan view from here http://www.irfanview.com 2. he installs it on computer. 3. He now has a program capable of reading/opening raw files. (they will appear as irfan view files.) Clicking on them will open them and they then can be saved in any format he likes. However if he is has little computer experience why is he using raw format and wanting to convert it to tiff format ? These will turn out rather large files and unless he intends using them in a high end graphics program they will be a wasted. |
