238882 2004-05-24 04:50:00 Hi people,

About MS Works, I have MS Office XP installed on my computer and I also thought I had MS Works.

I have a copy of MS Works Suite 2003 which I have install on computer. (See below)
(Have since discovered have all that on MS Office XP).

But apon trying to find MS Works, cause wanted to make some certificates in MS Works on my computer cause the Kindergarten has not got MS Word on there computer yet.

Do computers not came preinstalled with MS Works any more. If not where does one get/or D/Load it.

Cheers merlin-nz ;-)

MS Works Suite 2003:
MS Word
MS Money
MS Picture IT! Photo
Encarta Encyclopedia Standard

One other thing;
All in one printer, fax, copy and scanner.
Would one those be as good as stand alone Photo copy machines.

The kindergarten is looking at replacing the old (old) Photo Copy machine. It does get used a lot.
What one would those of you out there in busnisses recommend.

Cheers again merlin-nz ;-)

Computers never did all come with MS Works, it was an OEM bundle on some, and still is available on some.

Also be aware that Works comes in 2 flavours, Works and Works Suite.

Only Works Suite has MS Word in it. The plain version of Works has the very basic Works word processor and not MS Word.

238885 2004-05-24 05:57:00 Thanks GF you answered my question on the software. OEM.

Thing is until the kindy gets its new computer anything I do on my puter for them has to be in Word as have not got Works, as what the kindy has.

Suppose one could save in RTF to used on the kindy Works.

cheers merlin-nz ;-)

238886 2004-05-24 08:32:00 They could download and install the free MS Word inviewer to view and print your Word docs. Get it here (office.microsoft.com) Greg S (201)
238887 2004-05-24 08:47:00 re. all-in-one multifunction device, you have too look very carefully at the specs.
The critical factor is cost-per-page, and in my experience most mfd’s will increase the cost per page over a photocopier. Obviously you do get greater functionality.
IMHO I would stay away from inkjet based devices, the consumables are simply too expensive.
You will also need to make sure that the kindys PC can actually make use of the functions of the mfd, ie. Can they easily be networked and do they have drivers for the OS of the PC.
Also remember that if you get a colour-capable device, they will use it and this can send costs sky-rocketing!

238888 2004-05-24 10:02:00 Would recommend a photocopier that can be connected to the computer (or computer network if you have more than one computer) to act both as a photocopier and laser printer. An example would be the Xerox Workcentre 420 Pro. JohnD (509)
238889 2004-05-24 11:14:00 Thanks people,

Greg S:
Have D/Loaded that thank-you very muchly

John D:
I'am looking into that one and a couple of others.

Mike:
Yeah hear what you are saying and couldn't agree more, MFDs are cheap but ink ain't.
