Computers never did all come with MS Works, it was an OEM bundle on some, and still is available on some. Also be aware that Works comes in 2 flavours, Works and Works Suite. Only Works Suite has MS Word in it. The plain version of Works has the very basic Works word processor and not MS Word. |

Thing is until the kindy gets its new computer anything I do on my puter for them has to be in Word as have not got Works, as what the kindy has. Suppose one could save in RTF to used on the kindy Works. cheers merlin-nz ;-) |

| 238887 | 2004-05-24 08:47:00 | re. all-in-one multifunction device, you have too look very carefully at the specs. The critical factor is cost-per-page, and in my experience most mfds will increase the cost per page over a photocopier. Obviously you do get greater functionality. IMHO I would stay away from inkjet based devices, the consumables are simply too expensive. You will also need to make sure that the kindys PC can actually make use of the functions of the mfd, ie. Can they easily be networked and do they have drivers for the OS of the PC. Also remember that if you get a colour-capable device, they will use it and this can send costs sky-rocketing! |

| 238888 | 2004-05-24 10:02:00 | Would recommend a photocopier that can be connected to the computer (or computer network if you have more than one computer) to act both as a photocopier and laser printer. An example would be the Xerox Workcentre 420 Pro. | JohnD (509) | ||
