| 238850 | 2004-05-24 02:05:00 | This is a real oddball one. When using a laptop with XP Home, certain applications won't work unless it is connected to either my home or work network. Operating it standalone or with a dial-up internet connection I can't run MS Word PhotoExpress Outlook and a couple of others. All they do is close with the message offering to send the error to Microsoft. Any ideas anyone? |

| 238853 | 2004-05-25 00:37:00 | Error Message reads: "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for the inconvenience." Then it asks if I would like to send the report to Microsoft, which I have done a few times. The same message appears for other affected programs. The info collated for forwarding to Microsoft is far too long to include here. The problem disappears as soon as I plug into a functioning network. Very strange, I think. Any help appreciated. |

This sounds like the stupid Windows and Office activation thing where as you have removed the laptop from the network it thinks there has been too great a change in the system. There was a reporter who hopped on a flight after loading the latest Office and found having undocked his laptop Office refused to run. He was a very unhappy chappy. |
