1363236 2013-12-21 06:07:00 For Windows 9 I'd like Microsoft to make it so that it does not loose the position of your icons if you have a system crash !

I am sick of having to re- arrange them how I like them.

But then on reflection it may not be possible.....

1363238 2013-12-21 07:44:00 They already fixed that in ReactOS Explorer (The open-source implementation of windows). Same for the systray icons, they now don't all disappear if there's a crash with ReactOS Explorer! Chilling_Silence (9)

In theory that wouldn't be that hard to write the code for. You just write that you want the desktop to save its current UI state to memory on crashing. That would save you having to reorganise the desktop each time.

I'd also go for plods suggestion ;)

Or here's a better idea:
When a change is made to icon layout, save it to disk.

Easy! :D

1363241 2013-12-23 00:36:00 Maybe _not crashing_ would be a better solution ... :D fred_fish (15241)

That sounds a better idea, saving it to memory when it crashes seems impossible - that's what crash is!
the only problem i see is with different screen resolutions...

1363243 2013-12-23 01:08:00 Yeah but after a crash, your screen resolution should *still* be the same :P Chilling_Silence (9)
