| 1363032 | 2013-12-19 07:58:00 | I told my mum that Skinny have some Christmas promotions that might suit them and their pricing plans. She currently have one of those LG $50 phones, she came interested in a Huawei Y300 how is this like on special at $99. She would be making calls and maybe GPS if she is overseas. She won't be running other apps. She like it due to the larger screen and buttons and that it doesn't look as silly as a $50 little phone. I know this is on the cheap, your view? Also it is being sold under Telecom XT - is it unlocked so she can put in a Skinny Sim? Cheers. |

| 1363037 | 2013-12-19 09:32:00 | Yeah the 320 is the 2degrees / vodafone version of the 300. They're surprisingly decent phones for what you pay for them! Dual-core CPU with a decent resolution screen, and significantly less bloatware than the likes of Samsung include :p |

It's too slow , under powered and only has 4 Gig on on board storage plus won't auto handover from WiFi to 3G and when you power off it only goes to standby mode so after a few months strange things happen unless you reboot it or pull out the battery. My mother-in-law has one. Wish I'd payed a couple of hundred for a more up specked fone for her | paulw (1826) | ||
| 1363039 | 2013-12-19 20:56:00 | It's too slow , under powered That's odd, when I was using one it was decent. It's no high-end phone, but for a hundred bucks it'll easily outclass anything else even twice that price only has 4 Gig on on board storage Yeah but that's why Android is cool, just throw in an SD Card and you can still load apps etc onto it, photos save to it... plus won't auto handover from WiFi to 3G Changing from WiFi to 3G is a feature built into the original Android. If you're having issues with that, sounds like something funky is going on, but I know for a fact having used both the Y300 and the Y320 in the last two weeks, it definitely does that just fine? |

Unlike normal Androids the handover on the Y300 is not automatic. It requires user intervention. I asked Huawei about it and they said it's a software feature and can't be disabled. Loading Apps to an SD card is not easy these days as not many are designed that way so unless you hack the fone it won't work. Found that out with a cheap Android that one of the staff here has . Only two of her installed apps allowed for removal to the SD card.. For the price it's a good fone just not designed for the Facebook generation.. Has kind of put me off Huawei fones.. |
