2013-12-10 12:28:00 | Hi all I'm giving my mum and Ipad for Christmas and I'm not sure of pre pay options. I'm work in Aus so I can't drop into the Telecom shop to talk over the options and I know if I try and call it'll cost a fortune being on hold..... For my Ipad on Telstra (Aus) I get 3GB for $30 per month so I was thinking something along those lines. If possible I'd really like to be a able to by a full years worth so she wouldn't have to worry about topping up until I do it all again next Christmas. So if anyone knows what options are best I'd be most grateful for your help. Thanks Dave

2013-12-10 19:57:00 | Telecom have some OpenData plans, which are available either on a monthly account, or as a monthly recurring pre-pay pack. $15 - 500MB $29 - 1.5GB $49 - 3GB As a Christmas promo, the $29 pack is currently doubled to 3GB until end of Jan. Be aware that excess data is, iirc, $0.20/MB if you exceed your pack. You can buy an additional pack if you need. You can set it up to email you usage alerts. I haven't tried to see if you can set up a SmartCap on an openData plan - on the Ultramobile plans, you can set it to simply cut off data at your usage limit, instead of charging extra.

Are there any vodaphone data only plans? Those sound like really good prices but I still want to keep the free calling to my family... |

2013-12-11 00:48:00 | Thanks everyone. She's on Telecom at home, and that's where she'll be using the Ipad. Don't think she's using it out and about. Looks like the $30 1.5 gb prepay will be it. Once again this hi-lights how Telecom are ripping everyone off. Telstra over her aren't the cheapest and for $30 I get 3 gb of data! Cheers Dave

2013-12-11 01:07:00 | Wi-Fi at home is the best option, 3G is always more expensive. | dugimodo (138) | |
2013-12-11 01:12:00 | Bit of a population difference between ozzy and here, you can't expect prices to be the same. If she lives in a 2Degrees zone, then they do 12GB data for $99 that last 6 months.
