1342041 2013-05-19 23:54:00 Public transport is so safe and reliable these day

significant delays, cancellations everywhere

1342042 2013-05-20 00:14:00 Problem is Kaiwharawhara is the worst possible spot to derail, that's where the North Island Main Trunk (Kapiti Line) and Wairarapa Line (Hutt Valley, Melling Lines) merge to enter Wellington station. The derailment would affect everything except Johnsonville services, and even those trains would come from somewhere... pcuser42 (130)
1342043 2013-05-20 00:18:00 Notice it was one of the older trains, not the current fleet.
Also, people mention hearing the noise well before, but nobody did anything about it?

1342044 2013-05-20 00:20:00 I did read that, you'd think if you heard strange noises, you would alert the train staff??

kinda shocked but not suprised

Depends if it were passengers or staff who heard it, if staff noticed I'd be appalled that the driver wasn't notified (or didn't take action), but passengers might not be sure what to report, or who to.

My thoughts exactly. Why didn't anyone pull the emergency cord or whatever they do for an emergency stop.

You can probably thank the tossers on the RWC trains for that, people too scared to use emergency brakes in an emergency

1342050 2013-05-20 00:53:00 Luckily it was only a train, and even more fortunately it was Wellington. Delays there can only enhance life for the rest of us ;) R2x1 (4628)
