| 1341599 | 2013-05-16 11:48:00 | Such an pain free process. Booked it in, was given a date from what I preferred, the guy came in for a scout, ok maybe delayed by a week in total. We had a buried cable, needed civil work to be done and consents, then guy comes and 2-3hr does the digging with a torpedo style that is dig a few holes in the grass and it digs thru, leaves no marks when grass holes put back in. A few days after rest of guys come and install the equip, feed the fiber thru, connect up, began 8am and done by 2pm. Gave them coffee and bikkies :D With Snap, getting 27Mbps and almost 9Mbps. We are with VOIP so got all our phones going part of their install (ie landlines corded). No ATAs afaik. We got a new line put in under the grass and shoot straight to the lounge. The telephone socket beside the TV acted as an input instead. so the rest of the rooms got their phones going .... now I just need to install Cat6 cables to the diff rooms myself :) |

| 1341600 | 2013-05-16 11:59:00 | Our install was pretty straight forward too aside from actual physical access difficulties (140 year old houses don't have much crawl space :p) Syncing at around 27-8 mbps and 9 up too. We're with Orcon because at the time Awkward Orcon were the only ones to go with (as far as fibre went). After 12 months they can f*%^ off though, will also roll with snap. They're the ISP I'm using at my flat and it's flawless. Fiber itself is all done via chorus who, in all my experiences are bloody nice chaps. They were at mine for the whole day. Good banter all round with plenty of coffee and snacks for the lads (was a bugger of a job for them!) They made a very neat and tidy job of it though! I was going to run CAT6, decided it's not worth it. The house is pretty small, wireless reaches everywhere with decent signal and I don't really envisage any need for cabling. By the time it's required the throughput of wireless will have exceeded the throughput of the physical wiring. Better to leave it. Because of the size/nature of the place wiring thunderbolt or what ever the next physical cable is will be pretty easy anyway. |

If I was doing allot of uploading I may go for it but I get 15Mbits on ADSL2 where I live so I'm fine until fiber comes some time later this century.. |
