| 1341506 | 2013-05-16 00:51:00 | Hi All I appreciate that this is probably not a realistic possibility but here goes anyway (and besides if you don't ask ....) I'm a Year 5/6 (9-10 year old kids) primary school teacher in the Lower Hutt area. I'm at a school that up until my arrival has had minimal ICT infrastructure and equipment invested in it. In the next 2-3 months we will be upgrading our ICT infrastructure (e.g. our server and wireless network) at considerable expense which has effectively wiped our ICT budget for this year. Our ICT suite comprises 15-odd very slow and old (and frequently unreliable) desktop PCs/Laptops and there is only 1 PC in each class which is similarly decrepit. At the moment I can't run more than 2 machines over our (so-called) wireless network in my classroom before the whole thing grinds to a halt. I have an exceptional class this year. They are great to work with, genuinely nice kids and they're eager to learn (which makes for a refreshing change). I would like to be doing a lot more work with them online especially with Google Docs but we have a severe shortage of machines which is what I'm on the hunt for. I'm looking for 20-25 [12-15" screen size] laptops/netbooks/ultraportables. They don't have to be the latest and greatest but onboard Wireless-N and either XP or Windows 7 for the O/S is a must. If at all possible I would like to be getting 20-25 same model machines from a single (very generous and wonderful) benefactor rather than accepting 1-2 machines from other similarly generous people and ending up with 10+ different makes and models to support and work with. 10-odd (identical) machines from one source and 10-odd from another could also be a goer. Is there anyone out there who can help me or suggest an organisation or contact person who may be able to help. I appreciate that this is a big ask but I'm hoping that there may be some kind and generous soul out there who can help. Thanks in advance. Paul |

| 1341507 | 2013-05-16 01:14:00 | Maybe find someone that deals in ex-lease machines. You may be able to find a bulk-lot. Then you should easily get all the same models\hardware. Whether they give them to you free is another question! | Agent_24 (57) | ||

| 1341509 | 2013-05-16 01:26:00 | Cheers SolMiester I really appreciate the offer but desktops aren't workable/viable within a classroom setting. I will PM you shortly about the desktops though. Regards Paul |
