Ken you have mastered the art of putting your finger on it, and even Zipp got it right.

1342205 2013-05-20 21:57:00 Although you may not care about my rules it's just to let you know I win every time.

How arrogant of you. New members almost never win arguments, the moderators almost always do. :D

My signature might be appropriate here ;)

1342206 2013-05-20 22:10:00 Well I read through this thread with amusement then went back to the start and re read the questions, honestly no one even attempted to answer them. Probably because of the unecessary attempts to be clever.

My advice - those are all entry level computer qualifications and a good place to start, maybe a bit diverse for any particular career but useful in general. You might struggle initially if you don't have much computer knowledge but if you apply yourself it should get easier. A+ is almost ubiquitous for people in the IT industry now, it doesn't really lead to many jobs by itself but not having it would put you at a disadvantage compared to most applicants. Going forward the more career specific and higher level qualifications require an Idea of where you wish to go with it but things like the MSCE for example carry more wieght than A+ (or is that MCSE ? whatever)

More general advice, if you want simple straightforward answers ask simple straightforward questions and ditch the attempts at humour or whatever it was. The intent gets lost in all the irrelevant twaddle. Also even if the advice you get isn't what you're after you will get a lot more help if you are polite when you point it out and not deliberately confrontational. A simple "thanks but that's not what I'm asking" is sufficient.

You possibly think your posts are all intelligent and humorous , they come across as rambling and arrogant. As I write this I find I've attacked you more than I meant to, apologies for that and that's my final advice, read what you've written before hitting the post button.

1342207 2013-05-20 22:21:00 Hello all and thanks for the warm welcome guys but I suggest that you have a welcome page/thread for us new comers? (assuming I haven't stupidly missed it somehow).

Well there is a "For Newbs" and "Rules" sticky threads in the forum line up if you read them.

The infor for new members starts "Welcome to PressF1, New Zealand's PC World's help forum. The following tips will help you enjoy your time on this forum."

And you chose to come here of your own accord - we never welcomed/invited you... just sayin...

Who ever mentioned it (too lazy to go back now - But I did eventually) Trev... +1 Frank_Somebody...

Agreed.

Here's some advice:
- You've asked for help, don't bite the hand that feeds you.
- You're wanting to know what courses you should do, but not wanting to say your desired career choice. It's like saying "I'm thinking of studying car engine repairs and brake hydraulics" when you want to become a race car driver. If you tell us what you want, we can help point you in the right direction.
- Write less. We're not here for an argument. Although this has been mildly entertaining, you've written more dribble in this one thread than I've seen in a LONG time on these forums, and that's saying something. You would rival the great Creighton Brown.
- Getting paid to use Word doesn't make you an "IT Professional". It's required for almost any kind of office job these days.
- Again, if you're asking for advice, don't come around here and try to educate those who you're asking for help from.
- I saw the attempts at humour too, wasn't funny. We don't care you're seeing a shrink and it's not relevant in any way. Leave it out, write less.

So, reign it in a little yeah?

Now, the question we all really need you to answer (Preferably in only one line): What do you want to do for a career path?
Bonus question: What is it that makes you want to study those things, have you seen something or received some advice telling you they're worthwhile for achieving your goals?

Well said Chill.

Also iNoob - I suggest you read the link in Chill's signature about asking questions ;)

He got asked that in the first post Wainuitech made. He refused to answer, and just went off ranting with more of his 'holier-than-thou' bullshit.

Not sure why he's trying to get a job anywhere with an attitude like that.

1342211 2013-05-20 23:10:00 Do you actually want an answer or just an argument?

If you do want an answer, let us know what you want to hear so we can tell you, since it's clear nothing anyone says will be good enough for you. Otherwise go away and learn how to use Google, because your current strategy is not going to work.

If you just want an argument, I suspect you could have a lot more fun on 4chan or something similar. If you do, please link us to the results. I think we could do with some more entertainment to lighten the mood around here.

I must be a masochist for continuing to post in this thread...

I would like both at the same time but being helpful and argumentative should be entertaining and constructive to me but make the arguement humourous and/or factual and the answer just factual (hopefully that clears it up for everyone who doesn't understand my sarcastic and slightly aggressive responses to answers that don't help, no irony there).

I know how to use Google thanks but it's better to ask within a forum that's related to your topic (I know that seems strange, I should have picked one where they talk about cute puppies) AND is most likely to have New Zealand people with knowledge (I would try a forum dedicated to Asians but we all know they can't drive).

It's not a spammer it's a troll.

No I'm not trolling sorry, I assume you didn't read the posts here and just entered that comment in randomly because that response is worth trolling?

Cant be a Troll, trolls only work if people are stupid enough to respond. Surely no one here is stupid enough.

Depends on the troll. Bad trolls are obvious to pick out, IMO good trolls show they have an understanding of the topic they wish to troll but attack from an angle that only stupid people wouldn't understand and the only reason they attack is to prove a good valid point but gets it across in a cryptic fashion.

In one word - [edited] :(

Well what you do with your time is up to you, I'm sure nobody here is surprised or cares?

With an attitude like that I wonder how many friends he/she has.
:)

Indeed I do wonder what life would be like if I act like a retard instead :)

Ken

Well I hope your anus is OK, and if I was your friend I would gladly make fun of you for putting liquid up there ;) but being healthy is important, you have to doo what you have to doo.

Ken you have mastered the art of putting your finger on it, and even Zipp got it right.

Well I hope you didn't observe these events? Or are you making a reference to something else to do with s***?

How arrogant of you. New members almost never win arguments, the moderators almost always do. :D

My signature might be appropriate here ;)

Arrogant... No I don't think so; open to answers that answer my questions... Yeah sure why not. Your arguement almost won me over over until you used the word almost, I almost thought you almost stated the almost obvious that almost everyone almost thought when arguing? That's just almost all I want to say to that. your signature is appropriate everywhere, is that not the point?

Unnecessary attempts to be clever? unfortunately another one with low standards, if you think that's trying to be clever... I'm not going there.

Thank you that advice is helpful (is anyone reading this? we finally have a winner).

Well I believe that people who cannot deduce from that simple post (I also numbered the questions for all those out their with difficulties, sorry next time I'll help you by putting them in bold and including answers so you don't even have to answer them?) my simple questions (regardless of my sense of humour) then they shouldn't be answering them. Agreed next time I will be polite when someone misreads my post and gives me advice that is irrelevant to my post; instead of pointing that out and helping them fix their stupidity in an entertaining arguement (for me) I'll let them continue because being polite gives them that warm fuzzy feeling and that's all we want right?

Indeed possible, but not really more humourous (I don't understand why everyone thinks it comes off as trying to be intelligent, perhaps everyone's intelligence standards need to be completely reviewed? and the definition of that word is the "speed at which you learn" and I don't know how I'm conveying that... at all?) That apology... I was crying up until then :( (yes sarcasm to the maximum) don't apologise to me, I like it how you say what you want and I think that advice is all that was accurate/helpful. Read what I've written? OK you're another one who just ruined their decent impression on me with a final silly statement. I won't be too judgemental like I have with the others; you did give me some useful advice that I will look into.

OK are you sure because I'm sure someone invited me? Oh wait a minute... You had me there for a second! Not really, sarcasm. Yes I read the sticky thanks (thanks is me being polite, I hope you feel better) and enjoyment is a relative term. Why you're telling me to read that again I have no idea, I must have missed something important, does it answer my questions? What's your point? Also telling me that no one invited me here... Did you know that you're a human being? Thought I would just write that seeing as we're both competing to be stupidly obvious here and this is assuming I don't have a friend here who invited me which you wouldn't know anyway? Assumptions that also aren't helpful? Thanks for nothing? (again I'm trying to be more polite). This local community is getting more and more interesting by the post. Next?
