1363042 2013-12-20 04:05:00 Beetle - is your kidlet with 2degrees? My daughter and son in law have this phone. My daughter is with 2degrees anyway, but my son in law stayed with Voda, and found the Voda SIM worked, but he could not transfer his phone directory over.

What was your experience?

I notice that 2degrees is top of Consumer's list in the latest report, whereas Voda is languishing way down, and I am thinking of moving over (not just because of the Consumer report), perhaps with this phone given the insane price at the moment ($99 at the red place).

1363043 2013-12-20 04:11:00 Yeah we have myself and one kidlet with them, we find their signal here at my house better than telecoms ever was. and other kidlet is with telecom, but he doesnt care.

I like 2 degrees, we bought this phone recently, but found the store helpers to be a bit ho hum, 3 times we have had to go back to the store because the store peeps, gave us the wrong coloured ph, and then we had no docket, and they didnt add the flybuys, and the special xmas scratchy it was supposed to come with......... so the store peeps hmmmmmmmmmmmm but any other dealings with 2 degrees on the phone are good.

1363044 2013-12-20 04:21:00 Thanks for all that Beetle. The peeps are prob not likely to be any better at the red place! And there is no colour choice - they have sold out of black, so you can have any colour as long as its white. If your kidlets (and you) are interested, my daughter has tracked down some cases for the phone in Auckland - she had been struggling to find one anywhere.

Have a great Christmas with the teens (I assume they are teens!).

1363045 2013-12-20 04:23:00 We were all Vodafone one day and they all now transferred to 2D, no problems with transferring phone directories over from the SIM to the phone's memory and back onto the 2D SIM.

We just thought about Skinny b/c they are having Christmas promotions so if you do a decent top up the phone is free and their standard prepay (casual) rates are about 10% less than 2D's. 2D is also a hint less than the Voda/XT but Voda/XT does do $1 for 10MB data. Skinny does a $16 plan vs 2D's of $19 and their annual top up is just $5. I find that if you spend more like $30+ a month or if you want 4G then then Voda/XT. But I cannot transfer to Skinny b/c my nice phone isn't the 850Mhz freqency .... The big two does $19 bundle as well but with half data and half minutes or something like that .... but it is 4G.

1363046 2013-12-20 06:25:00 Had no issues transferring to the Y300 / Y320.

At worst-case scenario, you can log into your respective Gmail and import the contacts that way from your PC :)

1363048 2013-12-20 22:57:00 Thanks. I will talk to my son in law when he arrives tomorrow and see what he has done to get his phonebook onto his phone. Unfortunately for me, my contacts are all on Outlook rather than GMail, which I only use as a disposable email address for use with websites etc. I suppose if I face the same problem I could sync GMail with Outlook and do it that way. Pretty much! :) It's actually pretty easy too, there's a myriad of guides online:
office.microsoft.com

support.google.com / support.google.com

Best of all, it's only a 5 minute job really, unless you're trying to extract them from an iPhone that's not sync'd with anything. Otherwise, it's easy as :)

1363050 2013-12-20 23:22:00 getting back to a question or comment said....

What sort of case were you talking about? kidlet has got a jelly case on it for now...... she did want a flip case that holds a eftpos card...... so no wallet needed to carry as well just the ph....:)
and kidlet is still happy with the phone........ she tends to be real hard on phones, so we have bought 3 in the last year alone....... they just dont cope with the constant use, or a teens life, lol

1363051 2013-12-21 00:14:00 Sorry Beetle, I haven't seen the cases yet, cos daughter etc live in Dorkland. She and family are coming down tomorrow, so I will get a chance to see both cases and will be able to tell you then. John H (8)
