1341470 2013-05-17 01:13:00 Because Metro sucks.

Very intelligent response indeed, yes quite.

The problem is really going to come later on for some people.

I cant See MS dumping the tiled interface any time soon since they are wanting to combine all the products, Phones, tablets, Laptops and desktops with the same interface, so people who don't like it or refuse to use it, will find that when they have to upgrade a OS for what ever reason, assuming MS still go along as they are, they will be even further behind with "how things work" an it will be even harder for them. The only other option will be to go to another OS.

1341472 2013-05-17 03:06:00 Why do you need it :p
Metro - where you can't have more than 2 apps open at once, where you can't run with a half and half split screen, where you have to minimise an app to open more, and where the desktop is run as an app....and they wonder why people don't like the ui ;)

Visible, perhaps. But running, definitely more than two.

I actually found metro on a touch screen to be worse than on a dekstop :p - I kept swiping in the last used app when I was trying to bring up the list of all open apps.
And what happens if you want more than 2 visible at once? Have to go back to the faithful desktop...

I found the opposite :pDoes take a bit of getting used to, but I've got the hang of it  pcuser42 (130)
1341476 2013-05-17 05:55:00 I paid a few bucks for a Stardock app that makes the desktop/start etc just like W7. 8 is great! I have a 6 y/o screen with my desktop pc. Fishb8 (484)
1341477 2013-05-17 06:48:00 What age group is Wait8 aimed at again?
It is problematic if the weird thing ever makes enough out of fanbhoi sales to pay for itself. It is probably going to be about as useful as a double helping of vista; just helps the acceptance of W9, no matter how bad that may be. Maybe it has an enhanced Ralph carrying a bunch of paperclips?

1341478 2013-05-17 08:51:00 my problem is i'm an exclusive menu user i hate having things on my desktop, on Win7 i only have te recycle bin and one open source shortcut for a specific program that won't go on the start menu or taskbar. Having learnt keyboard shortcuts i find e menu system quicker. I wil change when i have too but it won't be soon gary67 (56)

I have some icons for software on my desktop (along with crap loads of video files), but I still use the start menu for most of my programs.
