| 1362234 | 2013-12-10 22:32:00 | Any of you, "bright sparks" out there have an Igloo box? I got one a week or so back and for the first couple mornings noticed it had turned off, over night. I have it connected to my trusty VCR and can record nicely with it. I rang Igloo on about day 3 and asked why it did this as I had noticed, on one of the menus where you can turn auto off, off. She said it was a design feature, they all do that and can't be turned off. cdn.pressf1.pcworld.co.nz I find it a real pain and wondered if others felt the same and if anything can be dome? :thanks Ian |

| 1362235 | 2013-12-10 23:54:00 | It's a design feature to frustrate the hell out of you.. According to IgLoo / Sky the box does a software update check each nite it then powers off. They say that it can't be fixed. I think there is another thread here about this from a couple of weeks ago.. | paulw (1826) | ||

Can't see why it's any different to our other freeview boxes?:xmouth: |

| 1362237 | 2013-12-11 03:52:00 | (snip)I think there is another thread here about this from a couple of weeks ago.. The other thread was also created by ianhnz I think, and is called "Igloo question". It addressed this issue of shutting down overnight. Apparently turning auto off, off doesn't fix this issue - it only stops the 'eco' feature or whatever it is called, where the box switches itself off to save power after a certain time. You can turn off that feature, but you cannot turn off the middle of the night big brother software check 'feature' apparently. |

| 1362239 | 2013-12-11 04:30:00 | Actually Igloo is a joint venture by SkyTV and TVNZ I believe, and I think their strategy about recording and stopping you from programming a day ahead are probably to protect copyright of their programmes and to force you to sit through the ads! | John H (8) | ||

I think you could be right, there, John. I know there are mysky and myfreeview units available to record programs. Our satellite unit has an external hard drive and works well. Just don't know what the issue is with Igloo, both with the recording and the turning off. I start this current thread with a hope that some, "bright spark" had been able ro bypass their defaults, but I guess they are just to complex :( |

Or can it only restart with a push of the remote button? |
