1342021 2013-05-19 21:45:00 Maybe I'm get grumpier as I get older but I'm finding more reasons not to watch movies in a theatre.

When I pay a premium price to see a movie, I don't want to see

* commercials

* production companies credits (plural) before a movie.

It seems every movie produced has 2 or 3 minutes of each production companies "oh what a good boy am I" videos before the movie starts.

I didn't mind seeing one 10 second one, such as the Metro Goldwyn Mayer lion or Columbia's torch lady.

But when you have to sit through 3 mini-movies, it's the talentless being self congratulatory.

I feel it adds insult to injury when I pay a premium price, and I'm forced to watch glorified finance companies ejaculate in my face.

1342024 2013-05-20 00:02:00 I go on mid week nights when the theatre isn't busy and enter about 5-10 mins after the official start time, at the 10 min mark I've wlaked in and sat down about 10 secs before the movie started. Yeah it's irritating but without the adds the movie would cost more and the studios like to take credit for their work at some point, if they put stuff at the end no one would see it.

I kinda like trailers though, good way to find out what's coming.

1342025 2013-05-20 00:32:00 I don't want to see

May I suggest that closing ones' eyes may be beneficial if you do not wish to see something ... :rolleyes:

1342026 2013-05-22 20:47:00 The movie that caused me to write this thread was "Star Trek Into Darkness"

J J Abrams is the owner of "Bad Robot". So anyone watching the movie gets to see

* his finance company's "mini-movie"

* "produced by J J Abrams"

* "directed by J J Abrams"

In case you missed the minute long self congratulations, it's repeated in the closing credits.

So it means if you add up all the people watching his triple credits, it would work out to be man-years.

Why not just use a QR code? If you're really interested in who financed / produced the movie, use your smart phone.
