| 1341002 | 2013-05-13 05:01:00 | Hi beetle Sometimes power packs do 'talk back' under heavily fluctuating loads, and humming is not unusual either if running close to its load limit . Have you checked the supply specs to see if it is the correct voltage and current rating for the game as it may be overloaded, or supplying over-voltage . I'd check the voltage and current specs on the pack itself, and also check that the voltage is correct for the game . Current ratings will be maximums, so just check that the current rating for the pack is correct for the game as the voltage will drop if the supply is underated . Can you describe what you (or your chidren) mean by 'making it work harder,' 'making weird noises', or 'upsetting the box?' If the supply gets hot it may be underrated (lower voltage) and if it is over-rated (higher voltage) the game may get hot . Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Im not sure about the hum and other feedback they give about sounds . . . . . . . will ask tomorow . Thanks :) |

| 1341004 | 2013-05-13 12:09:00 | You can buy replacements if it goes bad . Probs pick one up cheap from Trademe or the likes . As for it upsetting the xbox? You'll probably find it's the other way around . When you hear the 'box work "harder" what you're hearing is the fans spooling up . Although not accurate measures of load, the main reason for the fans spool up because the Processor is working harder and as such the system is usually under heavy load and consuming more power . Thus the power supply has to provide more juice . If the pack was dying then you'd probably have the opposite effect, where under heavier loads the xbox would shut off or display a red error code . If you want I have a few 360 power bricks around, post a pic of the socket on the end . I'll see If I have one for your model (there are about 8 different versions of the 360 :p) |

| 1341007 | 2013-05-14 01:54:00 | Did you buy the "new" xbox 2nd hand? Might be getting a tad warm. Could pay to get all the dust cleaned out and some better cooling installed. In the mean time, make sure it's got plenty of good air flow and is off the carpet. see if that helps. |

| 1341008 | 2013-05-14 05:33:00 | i have vague recollection of my boy saying it slows the game or lags it......... but i could be wrong..... I wouldn't be surprised if this happened in newer games, the Xbox 360 is based on 2005 hardware. It's pretty dated. This is however totally irrelevant to the issue with the power supply. |

This is however totally irrelevant to the issue with the power supply. Maybe not if the PSU is faulty. Crap power supplies in PCs are often the cause of bad performance. It's not impossible the same thing could happen with a console. The thing is basically a slow PC anyway. |
