I understand that there are people here who will disagree and yes I know we can't please everyone and everyone is entitled to an opinion, but can I ask (even BEG) that this remains a positive thread . Cheers . LN |

| 1340929 | 2013-05-13 00:26:00 | Thanks for posting that LN, it's a brilliant scheme, and a brilliant outcome. We need more feel good news. The only negative I would raise is why haven't the hosts told us about the scheme? The cost? at $5700 a head, infinitesimal compared to the results and the kick start these young people have been given. No one would deny this "awesome use of our tax dollars". People like Sir Owen Glenn, Sir Jerry Mateparae, Paula Bennett, Defence and Police personnel, should be lauded for their involvement. Although that's probably the last thing on their agenda. |

| 1340930 | 2013-05-13 00:27:00 | Good on 'em. I remember last year training for my AFOQT and physical exams (Air Force entry) - at first it was pretty hard, esp the idea of running 5km with 20Kg strapped to your back, but the further I got through my course the better I felt about it and it became I light at the end of the tunnel event. I could see the end and I was confident on making it, which made me push myself harder. It's that first step in anything that's one of the hardest, glad these kids (and everyone else who makes that sort of change) could push through and get their lives on track. Of course I slipped up and forgot about the written part of the selection and failed the AFOQT :p but I'll be back. |
