239302 2004-05-26 00:21:00 I have two PCs running XP networked at home, one of them the internet gateway to Jetstream (boo to high cost "fairlywideband").

Any clues as to why I can't get the two PCs to use shared folders? They both access e-mail and Internet OK thourgh the PC with Norton on but I can't seem to get them to share files/folders/printers unless I turn off the Norton Personal Firewall.

I have configured the firewall as per instructions to include the IP addresses of both PCs but no joy.

Suggestions?

239303 2004-05-26 00:41:00 assuming nortons is correctly setup......check if netbios is disabled for the lan adaptors. netbios should be disabled for any dailup/internet adaptors.

the other way around it is to simply use another protocol for windows networking eg ipx/spx. this will bypass the firewall.

239304 2004-05-26 05:22:00 Try configuring the firewall to accept the entire IP range (for example 192.168.0.x), and see if that helps. Because XP assigns one PC a dynamic IP address, that could be causing the problems you're having, where the IP you set to allow in NPF is not actually the IP of the other PC. somebody (208)
