239264 2004-05-25 10:26:00 Wired Country has recently celebrated its first birthday and has now launched its wireless broadband internet service from the Sky Tower.

See the new coverage map (wiredcountry.co.nz) to see if you fall within the 12KM radius of the Sky Tower.

256K plans with decent caps and no excess charges start from $44.95/mth with Ihug (www.ihug.co.nz). All national traffic is free.

Wired Country wireless is not plagued by the latency issues that Woosh customers frequently talk about so it is suitable for online gaming. Wired Country uses different wireless technology to Woosh. This is according to one of the staff members I spoke to at Wired Country.

Read the press release (wiredcountry.co.nz) and NZ Herald article (www.nzherald.co.nz).

More info about Wired Country and their resellers can be found at the Wired Country website (http://wiredcountry.co.nz/).

239266 2004-05-25 11:36:00 Wow, just checked out the plans, wish I was in Aucks. Low ping (how low?? lol) 1mbps or even 2mbps wireless WITH shaping etc etc... NICE! Wonder if they are planning rollouts in the 3.5ghz band elsewhere... or even if they have 3.5ghz licencing outside of the Auckland area. daskip (5243)
239267 2004-05-25 12:12:00 YES!!! I'm in the coverage area.... but we're not going to change anytime soon. Very happy with Xtras JetSurf 3GB so far. I would personally only switch if.... I need high'er' speed. E.g. their 1Mps and 2Mps looking quite appealing...

Lucky you :), I am out side of the red line & in the middle(all most just out side of it) of the black doted line :(

239269 2004-05-25 12:46:00 I shudder at what I'd do if I was given a 1mbps connection... I remember hitting the 10gig limit on my 256kbps connection in a week or so...

Oh well... It seems to work out much cheaper... will wait a few months to see how my 256kbps connection works out.

Lo.
