| 239775 | 2004-05-27 20:38:00 | When I adjust the volume control, the computer beep sounds from the internal speaker, instead of the bong sound from the external speakers. How can I get the correct sound back? | Laserman (5686) | ||

For the last couple of months it has been a beep the same as the POST beep at boot up. I have reinstalled my w2k for some other problems and I thought it would fix this at the same time, but it still beeps from the internal system speaker. | Laserman (5686) | ||

If it was using the sound card as well, then it would have not been so obvious it was happening in both places. The reason it always uses the speaker is that even with sound muted it will signal that it has acknowledged your adjustment. Perhaps something has been adjusted in Control Panel - Sounds to prevent it using the sound card? Certainly none of my systems have used the sound card by default, all use the speaker (but only if the volume control is adjusted via the control panel, and not by the use of the keyboard) |
