239990 2004-05-28 11:20:00 Flashget - It does say free to try ! $30 to buy.
I think I will try and download it, and see whether they insist on paying or not. Thanks for the advice.

239991 2004-05-28 11:23:00 Getright looks interesting too. It says free to try $25 to buy ssssss (2100)
239992 2004-05-28 11:30:00 Yeah,i just grabbed the latest version and installed it as adware, just doing a spybot now....

Flashget is easily the best download manager ive used,on the surface it might seem like the others but after learning what it can do i find it impossible to go without.

239993 2004-05-28 11:31:00 Met's I'm sure the plugin allows you to grab any component including links. I'll have to check it out again. Never bothered with it because I use Leechget and Getright.

ssssss, check out the Links or software page on Irfanview website. He's done a very good comparison of the various download managers with an emphasis of free, ease of use, lack of sypware/adware and functionality but, not necessarily in that order.

239994 2004-05-28 11:40:00 I actually messed with the "download with" extension for mozilla, removed its ability to interact properly with flashget..

DOH!!!

So far haven't been able to find a way to reconfigure it, and to my knowledge you still can't uninstall extensions.

So now I just highlight the link and click save to disc and it launches flashget with the file loaded into the appropriate area.

Which all in all is absolutely useless when it comes to downloaded all the files on a page, something that annoys me, but not enough to go back to IE.

As for downloading the linked pictures, I never managed to grab anything from a site with Mozilla apart from thumbnails, but there is a good chance that was caused by my.... uh…inadequacies....

239995 2004-05-28 11:42:00 For whats its worth, after installing the latest version of flashget, spybot found and removed Cydoor, which is ad-serving software. It only serves up adds in the title bar of flashget when in use.

No biggy, but if they have the right to install it,i have the right to remove it.

Better off red then dead....

239997 2004-05-29 00:18:00 I don't think there is any need, Flashget runs fine after cydoor is removed, all that’s changed is the banner from the top of the program is removed, Program still fully functional. metla (154)
239998 2004-05-29 00:33:00 they may have changed it in the latest ver...it used to revert to shareware mode (bug you with a splash screen) if cydoor was removed. fake cydoor is handy for other apps as well ;-) tweak'e (174)
239999 2004-05-29 00:39:00 Indeed,in that respect you are quite correct,You still get the spash screen. :D metla (154)
