239598 2004-05-26 23:31:00 hi..
Im with Xtra now and been with them for over 1 year. No doubt its the best ISP for dial up I have used till now. I can always connect. never slow speeds. downloads at 5.8k/s constant.

But also most expensive of all 28$ a month. but its just getting bit expensive now.

So i was wondering which is a good ISP around for which has reasonable priced and good quality for downloads and browsing even if peak times.
**Dont care about techincal help.**

Paradise...........Heard it had problems with speed and some times connectivity, but cheap
Ihug..........good..but not totally speed reliable. $25/month
Telstra.......not as fast as xtra. 25/month.

Thanx

239599 2004-05-26 23:45:00 most isp's have different plans eg $20 for 250 hours, $15 for 150 hours.
check how many hours you actually use per month and pick a plan to suit.

Their flat rate dial up is from $16.63 to $24.95 a month - depending on how much you pay in advance.

239602 2004-05-27 01:50:00 $28 is expensive?

Out of curiosity, what would you consider reasonable for dial-up?

239603 2004-05-27 02:07:00 Slingshot $17 per month 3 months payable in advance good and reliable unlimited kiwibeat (304)

Thats a good price, but heard the quality was a bit hit and miss - and its only $2.50 per week cheaper than Xtra. And $2.50 is squaddly-dit money nowadays.
Personally, I think its worth paying a little extra for the peace of mine of excellent quality, which I get with Xtra

239605 2004-05-27 07:44:00 Xtra is $27.95 per month, which is $10.95 dearer than Slingshot. However, in saying that, I have found Xtra to be very reliable despite public criticism of their services. somebody (208)
239606 2004-05-27 07:50:00 I agree with Baldy.
And lets face it ... $2.50/mth equates to less than 10 cents a day,
and even my kids won't bother with a 10 cent piece.

239607 2004-05-27 07:51:00 Snap Net (www.snap.net.nz) was the best ISP I had experienced when I was on dialup. Even though they reserve the right to knock you off for 10 minutes after you have used 280 hours per month it rarely happened to me. Flatrate costs $20 per 28 days. Highly recommended. Susan B (19)
