240180 2004-05-29 11:47:00 Is it a new case you intalled the mobo in ?
A while back I had the same problem, thought I had a ground somewhere and basically dicked around for an or so until I shorted the pwr pins on mobo ( not recommended) and she kicked merrily into life. Problem was a new case with crook contacts on its power switch.

240183 2004-05-30 01:50:00 is cpu and RAM installed correctly? some motherboards will not run without ram.

also pull any unneccary cards from the system and led's etc.

have you tried hitting the reset switch?

easy way to tell if its a case problem is to remove it from the case and see if it will go. its generally not a grounding issue with cases, most comman is someone put the standoffs in the wrong place and is shorting out the wiring on the back of the board.

check the switch pins location....it wouldn't be the first time the manuall was incorrect.

240184 2004-05-30 02:10:00 I had a similar problem on a PC Chips board a couple of weeks ago..........
The manual was wrong, the power connectors on the board were labeled as hdd led or reset sw or something( Not 100% sure now ).
Perhaps check PC Chips website for board connectors and compare with your manual

240188 2004-05-30 08:40:00 have you checked the position of the CMOS resetting jumper (usually next to battery) some may ship with in reset position,if so set to normal mode iaw manual.
if it is in the normal mode carryout a reset,I had a PC that wouldn't start after building,it worked fine after reset.
