240715 2004-05-31 23:40:00 I want to overclock, just for the fun of it all. My proc runs fine as it is but I want to overclock, so I thought I'd ask about it here since I've never overclocked and don't know ****.

PROCESSOR: AMD xp2600+ Barton (512kb cache, on 'standard' 133 runs at 1.92 ghz)

MOTHERBOARD: MSI KT4AV (supports ddr400)

RAM: 512mb DDR400 3200 (not sure if it's running at 200mhz though?)
RAM2: 512mb DDR333 2700 (does having two types of ram **** things up?)

My power supply is (was) a Top Elite peice of crap generic noisy 350watt thing. My CPU fan was an AMD stock hsf. So, as of a few hours ago, I ordered the following:

ANTEC TruPower 330watt (it's supposed to be awesome with independent rails and all that stuff)
SPIRE Whisper Rock IV (its like this big cool CPU cooler than can handle amd 3200+ and is ultra quiet)

I also got some ENERMAX quality fans for my case. This will all arrive in a few days and my box/cpu/etc will run nice and cool.

So. I know how to up the FSB (currently on 133) but I don't know **** about the voltage and all that. Is it possible with my AMD 2600+ Barton to push it to say, 3000+ ? or 3200+ ? Or am I limited around 2800+? Or not even that?

Also, about my ram. I payed more for some 3200 DDR400 ram but apart from plugging it in I didn't do crap, and want to know if it's even WORKING at DDR400.

Any help?

Thanks

Your xp2600 Barton should be on a 166 FSB x 12.5 multiplier. The multiplier is probably locked so you will be limited to changing FSB.
Another heatsink may run quieter but the xp2600 standard heatsink is the same as an xp3200.
Your DDR400 ram will only run at DDR400 if the DDR333 can as well but AMD CPU prefer ram running in synch with CPU anyway.
Try getting everything running properly on 166/DDR333 first.
Google is your friend.

240717 2004-06-01 00:38:00 It is on 166 actually sorry I wasn't thinking straight :( Mark Veldhuizen (2570)
240718 2004-06-01 01:05:00 My TEMP/VOLT bios screen:

Spread Spectrum +-0.25%
CPU FSB clock 166mhz
CPU Ratio Auto
CPU Vcore Auto
DDR Voltage Auto
Terminatim vol Auto
AGP Voltage Auto

What do I do? :)

240719 2004-06-01 01:12:00 Not familiar with AMD overclocking, but I am sure you would want to reduce your multiplier and increase your FSB...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
