| 240784 | 2004-06-01 04:17:00 | Hi My computer which is running on Windows 2000 pro Sp4 suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. The dial up is working and when I pick up the phone I can hear it going but no applications can access the net. This all happened after I deleted optimiser.exe which i accidently clicked on to install at a website, I found out the next day when I tried to connect with IE, that it was trying to redirect me to download shdoclc.dll. but could not because it could not access the net (really handy) I found an old version of the dll and evenutally manages to swap them over. That did not help so i reinstalled both IE and Mozilla no luck. I then tried rolling back to SP2 again no luck. I have Zone Alarm running and normally there would be a few windows programs connecting to the net eg...Services and Controller apps, but nothing seems to be connecting now. Im also running Nod 32 but that doesn't seem to detect any virius. I am also running Ad Aware, and that did come up with a few things but did not have any problems deleting the items. Any Suggestions? Cheers Ben |

| 240785 | 2004-06-01 05:26:00 | www.doxdesk.com You might find after removing Optimizer that you still can't get websites as it may have changed the DNS settings in Network/TCP/IP/Properties You may also have to reinstall the TCP/IP protocol and WinSock socket layers to resolve "no traffic" problems. If you need to do this further information can be given. |
