| 240949 | 2004-06-01 21:20:00 | The first step is to calibrate your monitor, rather than your printer. First, use your monitor controls to set its colour temperature to 6500k (or D65 or sRGB) - the standard for photo work. Next, set the colour depth to at least 24 bit or 32 bit. Finally, set the gamma to 2.2. If the monitor application can't do this, then have a look at www.photoscientia.co.uk for some detailed instructions. This will hopefully bring your screen image close to what is being printed. You can then use a colour chart or a "standard image" to experiment with the printer adjustments to get the print "just right". Once you've set the monitor and printer up, you can adjust the photo in photoshop or the like to how you want it, knowing it will print as close as possible to the screen image. Be aware though, that once you have set up your monitor for photo printing, you may not like the settings when you go back to your other desktop apps. |
