241398 2004-06-03 09:31:00 You may have a faulty keyboard :-)

241399 2004-06-03 09:31:00 installed patches (for both game and O/S)

I had a game- wouldn't work in XP but did in 95, installed the patch, now works like a dream

241401 2004-06-04 00:31:00 I think I have all the patches but the games still do not run in XP (also set the compatibility mode)

Can you let me know which are the patches and where you downloaded them from?

Cheers (sober now...

241402 2004-06-04 00:45:00 Why?

Because Win 9x has DOS underlying the Windows OS.

Windows NT, 2000 and XP does not have DOS, only an emulation of DOS within Windows.

Older software made both legacy DOS calls and non-standard DOS calls to routines. Non standard (non-legacy) calls are probably unsupported now in DOS emulation.

Perhaps you should blame the game software writers more that Windows XP, but its too hard to prove.

Please try and avoid using all CAPS, its considered to be rude (equivalent to shouting at people) as well as harder to read.

241403 2004-06-04 00:56:00 Due to the resource hogging qualities of XP, found that games tended to slow down noticeably. So I use a dual boot setup with XP being my main work/projects OS. And 98 being the (the kids are in bed so now I can have some fun) gaming OS. This way you get the best of both worlds. Bam Bam1 (5649)
