241842 2004-06-05 02:23:00 Yes I believe that Wingate 2.1 has a firewall included but there are no instructions and trying to get info from their site is like trying to get blood out of a stone Topsie3v (168)
241843 2004-06-05 03:13:00 Try here (www.techadvice.com) Jim B (153)
241844 2004-06-05 04:50:00 Thank you I will have to study all that info before changing anything Topsie3v (168)
241845 2004-06-05 14:03:00 Try this:
Start --> Run --> "command" without the " --> OK

Type in "telnet pop3.myisp.co.nz 110" (again without the ")

It should briefly display something like Connectin to ***...

Then it'll display something like this if successful:
+OK <26845.1086440388@pop3-1.paradise.net.nz>
or
+OK POP3 Ready desire.actrix.co.nz

This will tell you if your computer is able to connect to the POP server at all, without the hassle of mail programs messing things up.

Obviously check you are attempting to enter the correct mail server details.

If you are attempting to access either Xtra's or Clear's POP3 server from another ISP connection you will not be able to do this, they only support POP access from inside their own networks.

Obviously all the above should be tried via the network connection.

241846 2004-06-06 00:48:00 Hi Whiskeytangofoxtrot
Tried what you suggested and got as expected could not open connection through the network
It connects to everything through Port 80, think this could be why, will do some reading up and ghost my computer before trying to change things just in case I get into difficulties.
Thanks
