2004-06-06 02:44:00 I often have people wanting to give me files on their keyring USB memory storage devices, but I run WIN98SE which requires a driver. Does anyone know of a generic driver that will allow me to read these devices? Thanks Terryjs (5740)
2004-06-06 03:33:00 Is your Windows up to date? Maybe you require a Windows USB update as the device should be able to be detected AFAIK. Susan B (19)
2004-06-06 03:42:00 Every USB device that I am using on W98se, requires a driver. Normally installed before connecting the device. Find out the make of the USB storage used, and do a search on "Google"

2004-06-06 06:04:00 I think the problem being stated is that a driver is needed for each different device, and a generic one that works with them all would be good.

It could be that an upgrade to XP might be justified if no generic driver exists, and the number of requests is enough to be a hassle.
