241987 2004-06-05 04:55:00 Hi people

I have just defragmented my C drive and when it had finished I got a message saying <Files that did not defragment:>

Is this normal :p :D
Never happened before.

3 Fragments 7 MB \Documents and settings\Merlin Ambrosius.MERLINS-2Local Settings\Temp\Office XP Professional with FrontPage Setup(00007)_Task(0001).txt

223 Fragments 566 MB \Documents and settings\Merlin Ambrosius.MERLINS-2\Documents\Win XP Pro.ncd

23 Fragments 191 MB \Documents and settings\Merlin Ambrosius.MERLINS-2\Local Settings\Temp\Office XP Professional with FrontPage Setup(00001)_Task(0001).txt

If the above is of any help.

cheers merlin-nz ;-)

241988 2004-06-05 05:27:00 That's a lot of MB sitting in temp files merlin. One looks like a Nero backup and the others are setup files. I think you can safely wack them but make sure you can restore them before getting rid of them for good.

On Win2k I get the odd files that aren't defragmented. There are supposed to be third party tools around that do a better job than windows defrag and disc tools but, I don't use any so can't comment.

241989 2004-06-05 09:04:00 You don't really need the files in your Temp folder so they can be biffed. It doesn't hurt to run defrag once or twice more either if you want to, just for fun. ;-) Fire-and-Ice (3910)

Contig is a single-file defragmenter that attempts to make files contiguous on disk. Its perfect for quickly optimizing files that are continuously becoming fragmented, or that you want to ensure are in as few fragments as possible.
