2004-06-04 21:20:00 | Anyone tried it? Came on the latest PC World CD. I've got Mozilla on my PC and am quite happy with that, but I can't get Mozilla or Firefox to run properly on my laptop so I gave this one a flick. It's quite interesting to say the least, the tabbed web pages take a bit of getting used to but they could become quite a useful feature.

2004-06-04 21:28:00 | MyIE2 has been mentioned around here a few times as a nice tabbed window version of IE. Please bear in mind tho, since it still uses the IE engine as a base, it will have the same vunerabilities that IE has. >I can't get Mozilla or Firefox to run properly on my laptop What sort of problems are you getting? Do you have the latest Firefox (0.8) which comes with a automatic installer for windows? You just double click on the executable file and it installs Firefox for you. You should really remove any previous profiles for Firefox first after backing up your bookmark.html first.

2004-06-04 23:45:00 | I've actually posted the problems I've had with Mozilla etc., previouslly. Basically I get an error message, to the effect "incorrect syntax...." if I try to load pages ( not all of them just some - e.g. this site works perfectly, but Fencepost does not), also I can load Google, but when I click on a link it just turns to custard - a mess of half loaded and overlapping stuff. Whereas IE works perfectly, as does MyIE2 (something to do with those vulnerabilities I suppose). I've tried the latest and greatest of both Mozilla and Firefox, tried everything, removed all traces of previous install etc, even from the Registry. But to no avail!! I have a feeling that I'm going to get sick of MyIE2 at some stage. I've found in the past that lots of bells and whistles give me a pain sooner or later.

2004-06-05 09:01:00 | Its weird how Mozilla and co doesn't want to play on your laptop, haven't heard of anyone having problems like that before. Always a first time though I guess. ;-) If MyIE2 does it for you then go for it. It has had good reviews from the few here that use/have tried it and you'll soon find that once you get used to tabbed browsing you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. ;-) Out of curiosity, have you tried Opera at all?

It just annoys me to think that I have identical os's on both machines that one of them could throw up these inconsistencies. |

2004-06-05 11:31:00 | Opera is a stand alone browser,not related to ie in any way. | metla (154) | |
2004-06-05 14:06:00 | Firefox is an excellent browser, but so is the latest Opera. opera has pop up control, and the full screen (F11) is just that, no tool bars. Very stable and excellent with graphics. No relation to IE, it is Norwegian. Opera is reasonably forgiving of bad code. IE6 emulation is optional.

2004-06-05 18:58:00 | gidday, been using myIE2 for a while now, and have had no problems with it. the tabbing web pages took a bit of getting used to, and I had to use the options to confiqure it my liking, apart from that its works fine. web pages are loading a bit cleaner I feel. to update it though I found it pays to uninstall the old one first. cheers, Robby

2004-06-06 02:10:00 | > > Out of curiosity, have you tried Opera at all? > No, not as yet, I could give it a go I suppose . It's based on the IE engine too, I believe? No, absolutely not! :O It would be worth your while giving Opera a run . It is similar to Mozilla/Firefox in as much as it has tabbed browsing and is fast but it has far more features than the other two . I have alternated between Opera and Firebird/Firefox but am currently using Opera as my default browser again, both in Windows and in Linux . Do be aware though, that the free version of Opera is supported by advertisements but if you choose the Google ones they take up no more room than a toolbar so you will hardly notice them . Opera is worth a try . :-) > It just annoys me to think that I have identical os's on both machines that one of them could throw up these inconsistencies . Yes, it is very strange and I know I would be annoyed/frustrated with the issue as well . Must be just one of the pecularities of computers I guess .
