242448 2004-06-07 06:02:00 Hi
Has anyone else experienced problems with the internet explorer and their virus software since updating zonelab's latest version (free one).
First thing I had problems with was the explorer hanging, it wld go to site ie qantas but when it came to obtaining the flights it would hang and hang and I've had to crash computer, and only at the wall to turn it off. Other problem was with the pc-cillin virus check, it either made it inoperable or messed it up some how that now it keeps updating the same pattern over and over. In the end I have uninstalled the zone lab latest version and since the explorer has worked ie with qantas. The latest version of free zonelab did have something about a virus check on it. So I wld be interested in hearing from anyone else.
Thank you in advance.
Whome.

242450 2004-06-07 06:10:00 Quite a few people experienced unpleasant surprises with ZL v5, (I'm one of them). Uninstalling, and replacing with v4.5 seems to have restored peace and quiet.

Subject: Zone Labs Technical Support: Tech Support Ticket: Upgrade Issues

...Thank you for your email, We are aware of some issues with the latest version of ZoneAlarm and are working to have these resolved as soon as possible. So far, the only fix for this issue is to uninstall ZoneAlarm Pro 5.0, and then reinstall ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5. Thank you for your patience. Regards, Andrew N. ZoneLabs technical support....

Directly from the ZA folks: They acknowledge the problems and say:

The above culled from the Langa List. Note the ZoneLabs recommendation in the first item.

I've had a look at the threads in F1, seems like a major, unfortunately, I hadn't been on the computer in ages and missed that discussion When the update flashed at me, I confidently updated as I hadn't previously had probs. Just goes to show. Thanks again. I'll still have to sort the pc-cillin virus checker out yet???
