242379 2004-06-07 05:23:00 Using Xp Home and IE 6.

The home page continually reverts to about:blank.

I note Jen C's fix reply from 6 June 2004 where there is a box to uncheck in Spybot. Can anyone point me directly to the correct area to complete the fix.

I have found the problem in the registry and although i can cahnge it in there it does not fix the problem.

Jen C or Marcus if you are looking can u point me directly to the are ain spybot.

Thanks.

242380 2004-06-07 07:52:00 Hi Lamoe57

So you followed the advice given to Marcus in this thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) and you removed the tick to lock down the Internet Options control panel (and homepage), changed your homepage to whatever URL you wanted within IE, and then replaced the tick under that Spybot option? But now your homepage keeps getting changed back to none?

Have you updated Spybot (or also Ad-aware 6) and then checked your system out?

I am sorry, I can't give you precise directions to where the Internet lockup option is, as I am going from memory here (not running Windows at the moment). But look under Spybot (Advanced) and then Immunise. It should be listed as an option down the bottom of the page.

Let us know how you get on :)

Click on the Immunize button and remove the tick from the last item on the page, "Enable permanent blocking.....".

You can then set your homepage to whatever you wish. If your homepage still keeps reverting to About:Blank let us know.

242382 2004-06-07 08:48:00 If it keeps reverting back to about:blank, it is a browser Hijacker.

Download CWShredder here (www.spywareinfo.com) , use the scan , then the FIX , even if the scan does not show anything.
