2004-06-07 05:15:00 | Computer haiku: Each intended to amuse They are your reality Cheers Billy 8-{) Three things are certain: Death, taxes and lost data. Guess which has occurred. The file you need might be very useful. But now it is gone Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death. No one hears your screams. Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working. Windows is like that. Chaos reigns within. Reflect, repent, reboot. Order shall return. Wind catches lily, scattering petals to the ground. Segmentation fault. With searching comes loss and the presence of absence: File not found. The Web site you seek cannot be located but endless others exist. You step in the stream, but the water has moved on. This page is not here. Stay the patient course. Of little worth is your ire. The network is down. No keyboard present. Press F1 to continue. Zen engineering. This site has moved. We'd tell you where, but then we'd have to delete you. First snow, then silence. This thousand dollar screen dies so beautifully. Printer not ready. Could be a fatal error. Have a pen handy?

2004-06-07 06:26:00 | Some aren't haikus, the'yre meant to be arranged in First line 5 syllable Second line 7 syllable Third Line 5 syllable Just having a look, a lot of the second lines only contain 6 syllables.

2004-06-07 06:36:00 | Sadly most readers wouldn't recognise that fact SY. I posted them for fun though, not as an exercise in literary finesse. Please excuse the shortcomings and enjoy the intent. Actually, it might be fun to try and rewrite them as true Haiku! Cheers Billy 8-{)

2004-06-09 09:10:00 | When I learned French Baldy, the most modern computer was the Sperry Univac 1108 I think. You flatter me with suggestions of eternal youth.:D That's one of the nice things about PF1, you have no idea how old a contributor is (though with a few you might guess early second childhood) and even gender is open to guesswork. I just noticed the other day that a contributor I had always thought of as male was in fact female. :8} Cheers Billy 8-{) Incidentally Growly, what was your teacher doing reading out faux Japanese haiku in a French lesson?

2004-06-09 09:47:00 | No matter that they have been seen before they are new to some (me). They're also a vast improvement on some of the haiku I have seen, which is admittedly not alot due to my lack of any desire to see more. > I just noticed the other day > that a contributor I had always thought of as male > was in fact female. :8} What in particular was it that you "noticed " Billy that led you to come to your conclusion. Do you think they sought proper medical advice? Cheers Murray ;P

2004-06-09 10:19:00 | Hmm.. I think it will require further proof for you to safely reach the conclusions you have. Gender can be aa very tricky thing to pin down you know, Billy. IMHO, computers are much safer territory but, now that you have started there is a task to be completed. ;) Cheers Murray ;P
