| 242331 | 2004-06-07 01:58:00 | I'm thinking of buying a 512 mb CF card for my holiday shots Apart from losing the lot if it's damaged or lost, anyone any thoughts as to the advantages/disadvantages to buying two 256mb cards or even four 128 mb cards , which I realise would cost more per unit mb |

If you ever fall into the trap of leaving the card at home because its still in the card reader, then 2 cards may help. If you have multiple devices that can share cards, 2 may help. You are more likely to lose one when you have multiple cards. One will always be "somewhere else" other than in the camera. I run 1 GB, 256 MB, 64 MB CF cards, 4 x 32 MB SM cards. Camera takes dual media CF and SM (dual slots). Cards tend to be "everywhere" but at least always 1 in the camera. |

| 242334 | 2004-06-07 03:31:00 | I use 2 CF cards, 128 and 256. One is always in the camera with the other in the camera bag. I don't use a card reader, yet, so don't have the problem of no card in the camera. A third 256MB card will join them more for capacity but also so I can swap in a fresh card for a new job to mixing up images from different shoots. Cheers Murray P |

You want to always have a backup in case one walks off; at the same time, maintaining your cost/mb on low. I currently use a 16mb (and own an upopened 64Mb card -for sale to anyone interested). Although it can be tempting to open the 64Mb when I really dont need it, it would feel much better to have a second card to swap around. |

| 242336 | 2004-06-07 03:47:00 | Just from personal preference, I would sooner have 128 Mb caeds, simply for the avoidance of some of the hassle of cataloguing large picture downloads. 512 takes a percieved age to download, and if you stick them all in the same directory, oh the pain in a few months time. I guess for a holiday though, the bigger the better. Especially for the seller :) R2 |
