242271 2004-06-06 13:06:00 Every time when I open my Word (Office 2003), the following warning message appears:

"Microsoft Visual Basic
The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros. "

What is this about? It only started today. Can this be a virus?

Cheers

242272 2004-06-06 13:23:00 has this document got macros that you are aware of, press alt and f8 will give you the marco manger, this type of document security is normally enabled in tools... options.... security.... macros and yes it is wise to have this type of protection as there are macro virus that can cause problems in word, excel etc one that comes to mind is alphabet soup (your document ends up on the bottom of page looking just like that) I always disable macros unless I put them there beama (111)
242273 2004-06-06 13:49:00 I'm not actually opening any existing document- I'm just launching Word and wanting to create a new Word document. It's very annoying.

Maybe I should uninstall Office and reinstall it. Do you think that will help?

Pressing Alt and F8 revealed a handful of macros and they all seems to be related to MYOB which I installed the Trial version of the MYOB Test Drive. So, I think MYOB must be the culprit.

242275 2004-06-06 14:07:00 I've used the System Restore in XP to restore to (before installing MYOB)where it was. But, I forgot to uninstall MYOB first.

Unfortunately, all those macros are still hanging there. Now, how do I remove them?

242276 2004-06-06 23:40:00 Can you not use System Restore to undo your system restore so that you can then uninstall MYOB and then take your computer back to before you installed MYBO? Susan B (19)
242277 2004-06-07 01:48:00 If you go to Tools - Macro - Macros you see a list of macros. If you click on one, you may get the option to delete it. I say "may" because I think it depends on who was logged on when the macro was created. So if there is only you there should be no problem.

242278 2004-06-07 04:08:00 Found and solved the problem:

Deleted a file named MyobMn97 . dot in the Startup subfolder of Office11 and everything is back to normal .

I did actually reinstalled MYOB and uninstalled it but apparently, uninstalling MYOB didn't remove all those bits and pieces .

Anyway, got rid of the problem, at last .
