242986 2004-06-09 04:17:00 Hey
Does anyone know if this is possible?
I've been told off for excessive hour usage online even if i am on a flatrate plan...

So is there some sort of timer i can download that "adds" up my hour usage...

like if i connect today and i use 10hours...
the timer would say Wednesday 10 hours...

then I connect thursday for 9 hours

it would say

wednesday 10hours
thursday 9 hours

Total Hours 19hours

or something like that? so i can know how many hours i've used so far in the month....

242990 2004-06-09 05:30:00 who is your ISP??

when i got Ihug i ask if it was true flat rate . . . .

the helpdesk monkey said "yes, it say flat rate so what else would it be?'

me: "so i can use as many hours as i like and not get yelled at?"

monkey: "yes, i told you its flat rate"

me: "cool, whats your name?"

monkey: "er . . . . dave smith" (name change to protect the monkey)

about three months later i got an email asking me to cut down on my usage (643 hours for the month) .

i told tham that the account was flat rate and the dave smith the help desk monkey has told me i could use as many hours as i like .

ihug then told me that they where not demanding that i cut back but just advising me of the fact that they base the cost of flat rate accounts on 250 hours and it looks like i might be using a bit more that my share of the cake . . . . . .

I still use 600+ hours and they have let me do that for about 2 years now with no other email about my usage . . . . .

242991 2004-06-09 05:47:00 I to would be interested to find something that would keep track of my hours on the comp, or the net .

as to hours on the net, does more hours on the net bring more so called Geekness?

i always get funny looks when i explain how many hours i use on the net to non geek type people or anyone who is not PF1 related i guess . . . . . . . . .

which is very low compared to most of the pf1 people still on dialup .

and i dont consider myself to be excess in hours on the net either . 100 - 150 mainly .

if you find a good program that does this CC please pass this info and i would like to have a look, thank you .

:)

242992 2004-06-09 05:55:00 Login to your account on your ISP webpage and check your usage there.

What is so difficult about doing that for anyone who wants to know their current monthly usage.

242994 2004-06-09 05:59:00 yes i do do this ,

but if you dont check it regularly enough you miss it, and xtra (my ISP)
do not allow you to look up past hours.

so im still not certain of my hours monthly usage,
so would be good if i can watch it from here, not click into something which may not be current,

242995 2004-06-09 06:10:00 You should get an ISP that gives you value for money.

All other ISP's that I know the usage is completely up to date and they also allow previous months usage to be viewed including login times for every day of that month.
