2004-06-09 02:52:00 | I cringe with shame. Downloaded Hotbar yesterday without giving it much thought. Luckily Spybot S&D jumped to the rescue. However, is there a free smiley toolbar without spyware which I can use? I've become quite fond of the emoticons used on this forum. Googled but nothing which made sense. Cheers Winston001

2004-06-09 03:22:00 | [makes mental note] Ensure HTML stays turned OFF in my email options. [/makes mental note] Sorry Winston001. ]:) Couldn't help it. I do have HTML disabled though, for security. That prevents smileys from showing. You actually allow it? www.nwfusion.com Next thing you will be installing Incredimail? Did a test a while back, with an email that would be responded to. Put some HTML in the footer, and checked it when I got it back with the response (HTML was enabled) to see if the HTML was still there. Over half of my clients were stripping HTML, and thats about what I expected. Its even more than that now I believe. Still, its the season of snow and ice down there I guess (bright sunshine and warm here...). And you hardy Invertarctians do need something to cheer you up. :_|

2004-06-09 03:43:00 | What is the point in using them when the person receiving the email has to have SmileyCentral installed to view them. It may not have spware (not really convinced about that) but when you install SmileyCentral you not only get SmileyCentral but a bevy of other products you may not want or need. It also installs an Active-X control that basically leaves an open door on your computer for whatever their company should decide to give you.

2004-06-09 05:04:00 | Obviously Hypertext Markup Language is more sinister than I thought GF :D Please excuse Grasshoppers ignorance, but HMTL and Java are exotic creatures, beyond my ken. (Pardon the mixed cultures) I know Bob has saved some emoticons and pastes them in to his mail - because I saw them one day. Is he innocently sending worms et al? :O

2004-06-09 05:27:00 | > Is he innocently sending worms et al? :O Probably not, but if you can see them in a received email, you have vulnerabilities to any incoming HTML based threat not just his. If you turn off HTML, the smiley effect is lost. The email is also a fraction of the size to send as plain text.
