243204 2004-06-09 12:20:00 Can someone tell me what chipset comes with Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939
motherboard. Does it come with the built in Firewall provided by Nvidia's new Nforce chipset?

Does it come with the new chipset which is NForce 3 250Gb?

Cheers

243205 2004-06-10 04:37:00 Hi Ritzz

Gigabyte (www.gigabyte.com.tw) says it uses the nForce3 ultra chipset and makes no mention of the firewall although nVidia (www.nvidia.com) says it is a feature of the Nforce3 range.
Not a very definite answer. all I can suggest is keep researching until you find the answer. Look for reviews on Google (http://www.google.co.nz)

243206 2004-06-10 04:49:00 Yes that motherboard does come with the nForce3 250Gb chipset, that supports 1Gbit ethernet, built in firewall and native SATA support. But be aware it uses the new socket 939, which is incompatiable with current 64bit Athlons avaliable in NZ. Socket 939 Athlons should be in NZ shortly Pete O'Neil (250)
243207 2004-06-10 07:58:00 Thankx Dave and Pete,

Can you point me to where you got that info Pete?
I searched the net but could not come up with a definite yes/no answer.

And i have been waiting for 939 Athlons for soooo long.
I was thinking of investing in GA-7NNXP but with added 64 bitness in the new Athlons i just sat there waiting when, AMD would came out with these new babies :D

243210 2004-06-12 00:05:00 It just common knowledge that the nForce3 250Gb comes with the onboard firewall. Motherboard manufactuers cant disable the firewall, and why would they it doesnt make the chipset any cheaper. You could always do a google search for a review of that motherboard. Pete O'Neil (250)
243211 2004-06-12 00:57:00 When i look up at the specs for mb, it just tells me nForce3 Ultra
and according to other sites Firewall only comes with nForce3 250Gb

No reviews have popped up yet though so cant look up

Cheers

243212 2004-06-12 01:04:00 Seeing as it uses third party chipsets for the Gigabit Lan and SATA it would suggest that it uses the older nForce3 150. It would be a good idea to email Gigabyte and find out Pete O'Neil (250)
