| 243136 | 2004-06-09 12:42:00 | I have tried to install an HP3550 USB on a WIN98 system. The setup goes through the motions until it tries to detect the printer, then it searches with no result. Cancel has to be pressed, and it rolls back. Help please..... |

If so just install the drivers from the disk. If not go to manufacturer's web site and look for drivers. If it's a new printer have a look at the box it came in or any literature and see what O/S the printer needs. Jack |

| 243139 | 2004-06-09 21:01:00 | Also we had a similar problem USB posting the other day, re a camera, this thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) The fact is that Win98 first edition combined with a motherboard/bios of the same era is not going to be all that USB friendly. With so many devices being USB these days, it's probably better as zqwerty said to install a PCI USB card with its own USB bios, but also Win98SE with USB update patches is needed. |
