| 243085 | 2004-06-09 08:40:00 | Evening all I have installed xandros 2.0 on my computer and all is going well almost all of my hardware was set up perfectly EXCEPT my scanner which is a HP scanjet 3200c. Now i have sane installed and have found the correct config file for my scanner. i have looked at the xandros help forums and found a guy with the same scanner as me and he gives full info on how to set it up. So i opened the file and went to edit it with a text editor. This where i need your help. How do you edit a file do you remove the # in front of the line you want to activate or do you have to do something else. Any help would be great thanks in advance PS Smoothwall is running great |

You will need to be root to do this. Often descriptions and explanations in config files will have # on each line. This are not meant to be uncommented out. Let us know if you need further help. PS* It pays to make a backup copy of the original config before fiddling with them :) |

Even inittab, which is a very important system configuration file, is just reread with init q after any changes. |
