1363785 2013-12-29 00:15:00 Hi all, thought id try 8.1 on the home pc in sig over the break. Installs very fast I have to say, however an annoying issue is I have to reset winsock in order to get internet connectivity.
Local network is fine, but it seems to lose internet after each use of a browser?

Anyone had experience of this?

1363789 2013-12-29 00:44:00 By any chance do you have a broadcom Ethernet ? It may be the same problem as described in this article windows-8-1-loses-wired-internet-connection (www.eightforums.com) Try using an older driver, not everything works with 8.1 wainuitech (129)

Hi Neil (is it?), yes I do!, Technicolor TG589vn v2

I have downloaded some Lenovo Realtek drivers and thought it was resolved, but alas, just getting more updates now....are there issue with the router and 8.1?, as it seems to be quite an issue, at least thats what I have picked up on the internet.

1363791 2013-12-29 01:38:00 Okay, nmercer question about the VDSL has revealed the router has issues with 8.1 new DNS query format, so I have added the a telecom DNS server addy to the NIC config and will see how we go SolMiester (139)

1363793 2013-12-31 04:25:00 Hi Clive, yes, did the trick. Seems the DNS requests of 8.1 confuse the router, adding a manual DNS server address is the bandage! SolMiester (139)
