1363553 2013-12-24 07:12:00 We have wimax technology wireless internet with a repeater we had installed on the top of the hill in our property, then a small recept dish on the roof inline with the repeater, a POE box, connected to an ATA box for the VoiP this connected to a router. Since a few months we have net freezes, if online game, ping goes very high then freezes if in a website, I have to refresh the page. We also lose part of the conversation when on the phone (VoiP) and even hear like someone taping a number on a distant phone. We have also noticed a pattern every evening where net goes on and off for approximately 3 hours starting from 10pm sometimes later but it is every evening. Phone seems going when it happens although my parents have tried to ring me from overseas around that time and they had the message my number didn't exist. We have 2 computers connected at all times one wireless and one with the cable. Both computers have the issues when the net plays up.

We have changed the router then finally take the IP managed router since they don't want to do anything if you don't have it, blaming the router we had. We have had the computers checked one is new 1 month old. It was checked under guarantee and they didn't find anything wrong with it.

We complained to our IP and they tell me the tech team is monitoring the connexion. My end I have also been checking. Speed is good over 10 Mbps download and upload for New Zealand, around 4 Mbps in an Australian server. I used www.speedtest.net. I also checked ping and packet losses and noticed very high ping and high % packets losses when net freezes. tracer always gives me the few hops with message request time out. If I do tracert on trademe website I get like 10 hops with request time out then a reading in hop 11.

After 2 weeks without news I ring the IP and ask for an update. I get a tech who tells me they have been monitoring for 2 weeks and haven't notice any issue. I asked if they haven't seen on the router the drops on the net he tells me they have been monitoring from my connexion at the repeater. I complained again and asked why they haven't monitor on the router since we went through taking the IP managed router. So now we have to wait until they monitor the router.

I have also email copy of my ping testing showing the packet losses and the tech tells me with the kind of hardware and technology used the test I use is not accurate and also saying if my internet speed is good I can't have packet losses, he explained I will have packet losses only with slow net.

I don't have any automated devices at home that could interfere with the wireless only the phone but it works on 1.88Ghz band not 2.4Ghz. Our neighbours are far away as we are rural.

I hope someone here has some knowledge about Wimax and can give me some clues to what is happening. Thank you.

1363554 2013-12-26 04:16:00 Could be storm damage, electrical or aerial alignment. Quite a few Netsmart customers had below spec aerial cabling replaced a while back. Don't count out interference, if anyone is generating signals in the same frequency it doesn't take much to blow your connection. It is worthwhile disconnecting the power to your incoming modem and router ,waiting a minute or so then reconnecting when you are having problems, if you haven't tried that already. It's worked for me more than once. Have you by chance had a few power outages lately? PPp (9511)
1363555 2013-12-26 22:58:00 I don't remember power outages and if there is storms and lightning we disconnect. I have tried disconnecting the power and wait for a minute and reconnect when we are having the problems and it doesn't make any difference. I disconnect the whole thing. I have tried also to bypass the router then the ATA phone box then connecting directly to the POE box and it is the same.
Today I got an email from the IP saying they have been monitoring since Monday from the router and it hasn't gone down at all however every evening we did have net went down on and off. I am at a loss what is happening.
I am not unhappy with my IP at all. They are best internet we have ever had. We get a speed in New Zealand server close to 20 Mbps same uload. For Australia ping is 45ms speed around 5 Mbps dl and for USA ping 240ms but speed around 3 Mbps so not bad.
The evening drops wouldn't be annoying if it happens while I am sleeping but my family is overseas so I stay up late on the net. Finally my son drives me nuts complaining he can't play his game War of Tanks because ping goes high for a few seconds and freezes then resume. In my normal web browsing the page also freeze and I have to refresh. For exemple I'm in trademe and I try to open an auction It freezes and can't pass that stage unless I refresh. Sometimes have to refresh a few times until it works. I have an older laptop, bare, reset to manufacturer settings I use as spare so not often if hardly and I used to see if it was same issue or my PC and it was the same.

Where can I found someone with the required equipment to test my end to see if we have interferences? but then if we had interferences wouldn't that show in the line when IP was monitoring?

PS they did change the outside cable from the dish to the POE box. Coincidence? Issues started after it was changed.

1363556 2013-12-27 00:49:00 Perhaps try somthing like this www.softperfect.com to monitor you connection, you can then forward you results to the isp to show your problems. PPp (9511)
1363557 2013-12-27 04:19:00 Thank you. I have download the software and will be monitoring. Osmose (17026)
