I am honoured to be offered that privilege, and on behalf of myself and my honorary support staff, plus the many other unsung contributors over the years, I am equally honoured to accept. I had planned to hand over the baton at some point in the future, but I'd like to end on a 'round figure' of some sort. Maybe you could run a check to see what my "Monday" numbers are Siobhan if possible, and send me a PM? I will be sorry to see Chat go, but as a struggling business myself, I know about bottom lines and belt tightening all too well. As it happens, I am going to be out of town next Monday; Mrs T and I will be in the South Island celebrating a 'significant birthday' (I'm a 1948 model, you can do the math :D) so we can have a [Mon]day of mourning, then the new regime can flower anew on PF1 itself. It shouldn't be too hard to look into since every thread since the beginning of time has had 'Monday laughs' in the title! | 1343365 | 2013-05-27 04:53:00 | hmm, I'll miss the chat but I mainly come here for the PF1. Not sure about the G+ Idea, have no real desire to use it. Occasionally my phone tries to convince me people I know are on there but I don't really care - much like my facebook account I check every other month. Still no hard feelings here, appreciate the years of service up until now. I will make a confession though, the magazine arrives every month and is often still wrapped in plastic when I get the next one. I find between the website and the forums there's little of interest left for me in the magazine. Takes me about 30 mins to go through it when I do. |

Geoff Palmer's blog was the only reason I came to pcworld any more. All the other blogs were stagnant though. I guess this is really an indication of how far downhill the mag has gone. Readership doesn't just go down the gurgler for no reason. So long as it keeps making enough money Fairfax won't care though. For those that choose to stick around, have fun, but now I'm well and truly out. So long, and thanks for all the fish. |
