And as for me it's unlikely I'll get one. No backwards compatibility, paying to play games online, paying ridiculous prices when steam sales exist, there's just no reason for me to buy a console anymore really. Unless there's some kick ass exclusives or something, but I don't see kingdom hearts 3 coming out any time soon.

1342518 2013-05-22 20:33:00 Will you be allow to resale / rent video games for Xbox One?

In other words, does the game's license "follow" the DVD?

I bought the PC version of "Duke Nuke'em Forever" .

I hated it . I uninstalled it as cleanly as possible using Steam tools .

When I gave it to a friend, he could not install it . Steam said the license was already in use .

Moreover, I couldn't find a way to release the license from my Steam web account .

Decided then to never buy any game that associated with Steam .

1342519 2013-05-22 20:36:00 i expect microsoft to be selling xbox360 for many years to come. it has a lot of life left in it, another revision is more than possible, something slim ps2 sized.

just like sony will be selling ps3 long into this decade, sony might not cease production till 2020, no reason microsoft wouldnt keep manufacturing xbox360 till atleast 2017.

So microsoft is going to sell an 8 year old console for another 3 - 4 years when they would make more money dropping support for it as fast as possible? Yeah, no. I would expect maybe 1 more year of the 360. This might be prolonged by game developers who continue to develop for the old console and maybe the act that the 360 had such a long warranty (which They need to be able to fulfil). In reality microsoft likes money and it is in their best interest to force everyone into the new generation.

1342523 2013-05-23 01:19:00 the only reason ms stopped producing the xbox was due to high manufacturing cost associated with poor lisencing.

there is no reason for microsoft to not produce a $99 360 for many years to come.

16GB 360 with no harddrive seems more than possible for $99-$199

ps2 was being manufactured till earlier this year.

ife youre lucky enought to have a backwards compatible ps3 they still play ps2 games fine. sony isnt dumb enough to brick that feature.

catering to multiple markets seems to be in the best interest of profits

1342524 2013-05-23 01:50:00 An article called "With Xbox One, you are the controller (and the DRM)"

"Does Xbox One require a persistent online connection? Does it play used games? Microsoft has been so coy that anxious gamers are left with no choice but to assume the worst. Answers to these questions should be clear-cut--a simple 'yes' or 'no' would suffice, and help us all."

1342526 2013-05-23 03:36:00 The conclusion of your article

"The Xbox One seems like a huge upgrade to the Xbox 360 in features, but it also seems like a huge downgrade in freedom. Choices will be ripped out of gamers' hands."

So I'm never going to buy one...
